Illinois health insurance guidance
Private Health Insurance Broker in Illinois
Illinois residents comparing individual or family coverage can work with Caden Douglas by phone or video. Caden is licensed as Joseph C. Douglas. Illinois now has its own official Marketplace and has state-specific rules that make generic national “private plan” copy especially unreliable. This page separates those rules from the plan details that still must be verified. Caden has no Illinois office.
Get Covered Illinois is the official Marketplace
Get Covered Illinois is Illinois’s state-based Marketplace for individual health and dental coverage. It is the official route for determining eligibility for Marketplace financial help. This matters because old instructions that send every Illinois applicant to HealthCare.gov may no longer describe the current enrollment path.
Marketplace policies are issued by private insurers and meet Marketplace requirements. Off-exchange ACA-compliant individual coverage is another private-insurance route, but it does not use the same financial-assistance process. Other products may cover a narrower set of services or use different application rules. Never compare them as if “private” were one standardized policy type.
Illinois limits one commonly advertised category
The Illinois Department of Insurance states that insurers have been prohibited from selling short-term, limited-duration health plans in Illinois since January 1, 2025. That state-specific fact is one reason a nationwide list of “year-round options” can mislead Illinois consumers.
Accident, specified-disease, hospital-indemnity, dental, vision, and other limited products may still be encountered, but they do not automatically replace comprehensive major medical coverage. Read the benefit trigger, exclusions, caps, and coordination terms and identify whether the product is insurance at all.
Network verification has an Illinois regulator resource
IDOI’s network-navigation guidance tells consumers to use the policy, provider directory, and insurer to confirm access. Illinois network protections can depend on the plan and situation, so do not assume that a PPO or HMO label proves the result.
These are statewide service examples, not local office claims.
Renewal deserves a fresh comparison
A plan that worked last year can change its premium, deductible, formulary, network, or availability. Get Covered Illinois publishes current notices and plan information, and the insurer’s renewal materials control the household-specific details. Do not assume automatic renewal produces the best fit or preserves every provider.
Use the total-cost guide, the provider/formulary checklist, and the active-coverage timeline as three separate checks. If family members have different care needs, compare a single household plan with a split-coverage arrangement.
Caden’s role and limits
During a 15-minute conversation, Caden organizes the coverage route, timing, household, expected care, budget, providers, and prescriptions. He identifies what the official Marketplace, insurer, provider, policy, or regulator must confirm. He does not promise eligibility, acceptance, savings, active coverage, a network result, or a particular effective date.
The consultation has no separate consumer fee. Compensation may come from an insurer or distribution partner if enrollment occurs. Caden does not represent every insurer or plan, and licensing does not prove an insurer appointment. Illinois service is remote; his physical office is in Tampa.

License and appointment status can change after this page was last updated (August 25, 2026). Holding a license does not mean every insurer, plan, or product is available in Illinois — availability depends on insurer appointments, eligibility, enrollment periods, and underwriting. Confirm current license status with the regulator before relying on it.
